History of San Leandro Radiator
In 1960, Al Klaas opened a Richfield Gas Station on what was then known as First Avenue, now Marina Blvd in San Leandro. After
3 years of hard work, he opened Marina Radiator a few doors away. Proficient in his trade of correcting overheating cars and trucks,
and after cobbling together a Radiator King advertising mockup
from scrap radiator parts, Al was duly knighted with the nickname "Cool" Al, the Radiator King. This mockup is the basis for our
current logo. "Cool," along with his children, continued running the business successfully until retirement in 1980. His son Ron took over the business, rebranding as San Leandro Radiator.
Ron, along with his children, has since expanded the service line into automobile and truck air conditioning, fuel tank cleaning and repair, marine and industrial heat exchanger service, and antique and classic radiator and fuel tank restoration. Now into our third generation, we look forward to another 50 years of business.
